Two people are in hospital after a crash involving a police vehicle on the Llanbradach bypass.

The crash happened on the A469 shortly after 9.45am this morning (Friday, December 11).

The road was closed southbound between Ystrad Mynach and Llanbradach, but was reopened shortly before 1.40pm.

A Gwent Police spokesperson said the crash involved a Vauxhall Corsa and a police vehicle.

Police said a woman, as well as the 86-year-old man who was driving the Vauxhall Corsa, have been taken to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff for treatment.

South Wales Fire and Rescue Service were also in attendance, alongside the Welsh Ambulance Service.

A fire service spokesperson said: “Crews attended the scene and supported paramedics using specialist cutting equipment on the vehicles.

“A stop message was received at 12:18pm.”
