A new heart defibrillator has been installed in Llanbradach.
The potentially life-saving equipment can be used to help people who are having a heart attack.
The defibrillator has been installed near the post box on Coedypia, in the Rise estate in the north of the village.
Llanbradach resident Sarah Negus, who is a qualified nurse, has led a fundraising charge in recent years to install more defbrillators in the village.
Last year, four defibrillators were installed in Llanbradach after more than £6,000 was raised by the community.
This year, around £3,500 has been raised.
Ms Negus said: “To have a defibrillator nearby is extremely important for anyone having a heart attack.
“The first £1,000 was raised very quickly due to the Llanbradach and Pwllypant Community Council match-funding the first £500 raised voluntarily.
“A large part of the funding was also raised by local resident Ellie Weeks, who started a Llanbradach Fundraising page on Facebook.”
Each defibrillator costs around £1,500 each.
Councillor Colin Mann, who represents the Llanbradach and Pwllypant ward, said: “Including the machine at Pwllypant, we are now in the fortunate position of having four defibrillators open to public access.
“I am in the process of ordering a steel cabinet to house a defibrillator which was bought by members of Llanbradach Bowling Club.
“The cabinet, which is being funded by money from the sales of Llanbradach calendars, will provide a safe place for public access outside the bowling club.
“We are very grateful to Michael West of Western Electrical Installations for the free fitting of all the steel cabinets to house the defibrillators.”
“This is a great success story and shows the amount of community spirit that still exists in the village. I would like to congratulate everyone involved with this work.”
