Residents have expressed their frustrations with ongoing antisocial behaviour in Bargoed.
It comes after reports of large groups congregating at the underground car park at the Morrisons store.
Bargoed resident Jack Hinder said there were around “50 or 60” cars gathered in the car park on Sunday, December 13.
Mr Hinder, who runs Jax Bar on Cardiff Road, said: “It was absolutely crazy on Sunday [December 13].
“They were congregating, smoking dope, doing handbrake turns and going through red lights.
“Someone is going to get hurt.”
Mr Hinder said the issue had been ongoing for three years and said he was fed up of the “noise of the exhausts and the burning tyres”, which he said can be heard from Aberbargoed.
“It used to be a major problem in Blackwood, but now it’s moved over here,” Mr Hinder said.
“They just don’t give a sh*t. It’s absolutely shocking.”
Speaking to Caerphilly before the current lockdown rules came into force, Mr Hinder said: “I can’t have more than seven in my pub, and they’re gathering in groups like that.
“There must be 100 of them. It’s happening every weekend.
Fellow Bargoed resident James Kerby said the number of people congregating in the car park had increased in recent months.
“Sadly, I foresee a grim end to this behaviour,” he said.
“The upper open air car park is supported by many pillars, should a car collide with any one of them and burst into flames, I fear a chain reaction will cause a terrible loss of life, and not only for those who are grotesquely endangering that life itself.
“I hope to God I’m proven wrong. Sadly there is every reason why here, I could be proven right.”
A Gwent Police spokesperson said: “We received a call at approximately 6.50pm on December 13 reporting that cars had gathered in the underground car park at Morrison’s in Bargoed.
“Officers attended and gave the drivers words of advice.
“The local Neighbourhood Policing Team is working with the store to provide a long term solution to the issue.”
A Morrisons spokeswoman said: “We are working with the local police and council to tackle this issue.”
Caerphilly’s Senedd Member Hefin David and Member of Parliament, Wayne David, met with representatives from the store to discuss antisocial beheaviour in March this year.
Senedd Member Dr David said: “We were hoping to bring the store, the local authority and Bargoed Town Council to work on a solution, both to the antisocial behaviour and litter problem.
“The pandemic prevented that and for a time it was relatively quiet there during the initial lockdown.
“We are now reopening those discussions to find a long term solution, which has been delayed due to the crisis.”
