MISSING: Trevor Elias, who disappeared in 2012

Gwent Police has confirmed its attendance at a property in Senghenydd on Christmas Eve was unrelated to missing Abertridwr man Trevor Elias.

Mr Elias, 77, was reported missing on Saturday April 7, 2012, and was last seen outside the Leigh Club in Senghenydd between 11.15pm and 12.15am on Thursday, April 5, and Friday, April 6, 2012.

Mr Elias was known locally for his love of horse racing and unique sense of humour.

Police have conducted several searches to find him over the years.

Despite their best efforts, police are no closer to solving the eight-year mystery.

What happened on Christmas Eve?

Police attended a property in Senghenydd on Christmas Eve with local speculation they were searching for Mr Elias – and that his remains had been found.

Caerphilly Observer has spent the last few days asking the police whether or not this was the case.

Today, Tuesday, December 29, a spokeswoman for the force confirmed to us that officers attending the property at the top of the village were not there in connection with missing Trevor’s disappearance or that any remains had been found.

In an emailed statement, Gwent Police said: “Officers were in the Senghenydd area on the afternoon of Thursday, December 24, carrying out enquiries in relation to an ongoing assault investigation.

“A man was arrested and has since been released on police bail pending further enquiries.”
