Coronavirus vaccine

More than 100,000 people in the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board (ABUHB) have now received the first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine.

As of Monday, February 8, 111,443 people had received the first dose of either the Oxford-AstraZeneca or Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine – an increase of 35,223 over the course of the previous seven days.

Of those, 84.5% of people aged over the age of 80 and 67% of those over the age of 70 have received a vaccine.

Anybody aged over the age of 80 who has not yet received their vaccine has been asked to contact their GP to arrange an appointment.

Caerphilly County Borough’s mass vaccination centre in Ty Penallta in Tredomen closed on January 29, replaced by a larger centre in Newbridge Leisure Centre.

People who received the first dose of a vaccine between December 7 and December 20 will receive an invitation for their second vaccine within the next week.

ABUHB is currently vaccinating priority groups 1-4: the residents and staff of elderly adult care homes, frontline health and social care workers, people aged over 70 and the clinically extremely vulnerable.

The health board has a supply of a further 26,000 vaccines for the week ending on Monday, February 15.

The latest figures released by Public Health Wales show 655,419 people across Wales have received a first coronavirus vaccine dose, while 3,687 people have had their second dose.
