A Newport primary school is in line to receive a new play area and all-weather sports pitch.
The city council has approved proposals for the improvements at St Woolos Primary, in the Stow Hill ward.
The new equipment will be installed to the south of the main building, on part of the existing school yard.
A planning report sets out proposals to build a new playframe made up of “timber logs, jigsaw panels and various ropes for climbing and balancing”, measuring up to 2.7 metres tall.
The play area would be surrounded by a “safety surface” made from synthetic rubber.
To the side, a new all-weather surface would be laid over the existing tarmac and surrounded by a tall wire mesh fence.
Council officers granted planning permission, subject to conditions.
