A new coffee shop has been given the go-ahead to open in Newport, at a premises formerly occupied by a cake business.
The new venture will be a “small” coffee shop selling hot and cold drinks along with prepared cakes and pastries.
Applicant Anna Kouroupis’ plans include a seating area for up to ten people, at the premises at 36 Church Road.
In a report, Newport City Council planners said they “welcomed” the reuse of the property and its “emphasis” on trading in daytime hours.
They offered no objection to the proposed opening hours of the new venture, and noted there were no extraction or ventilation systems required – lessening any noise or odour impacts on neighbours.
Officers granted planning permission, subject to conditions including that the operating hours of the new coffee shop should be restricted to between 7am and 4.30pm, Monday to Saturday.
The premises was previously the home of Beth’s Bakes, which announced earlier this year it was moving to a new store in Kiln Square.
