Olympic Sports Village and the Blue Peter Olympic Roadshow
Caerphilly County Borough Council has organised an Olympic Sports Village on the Owain Glyndwr Sports Field alongside BBC TV’s Blue Peter Olympic Roadshow.

The ‘Olympic Village’ will have a range of sports that visitors can try out. SBX – the UK and Europe’s leading urban entertainment experience – will be on hand to showcase stars from the world of Basketball, Football, BMX, Skateboard, MCs/Beat Boxing, Free Running, Street Dance and Break Dancing.

Following on from Blue Peter’s live broadcast, the BBC will host four half hour interactive shows followed by a live Horrible Histories performance. The interactive shows will have sports challenges and bring to life key moments from Olympic History.

Get Cycling will be offering the chance for people to try out a mega bike, parents can join their children in the traditional three legged race or find out what it takes to become an Olympic Athlete.

Once residents have tried out the sports they can see how the body responds to movement and exercise at The Wellcome Trust area, who will be bringing an interactive exhibition of the human body.

And to exercise the mind, young residents can have a go at being an Olympic sports reporter and see the journalism and technical skills involved, or in true Blue Peter fashion get crafty building their own Olympic stadium out of egg boxes and yoghurt pots.
