Advertising feature: So here we are in 2022. A new year a new start and a good time to look at your finances and start planning appropriately not only for the year ahead but also for the years ahead.

With Christmas out of the way, many people could possibly be starting the year in debt. Repaying debt has always got to be the biggest priority and talking to someone about it and putting a plan together on the best way to clear it, will not just help financially but will also help mentally and emotionally.

I am passionate about ensuring good financial advice can be made readily available to anyone. Worrying over money whether you have none or don’t know what to do with the money you have, can cause stress and is unhealthy. It not only affects your own well-being but also the well-being of those around you. Worrying wastes your time and prevents you from enjoying life. When worrying about money stops you from enjoying your life, it is a sure sign you need to reassess and reach out for some help and guidance. Remember worrying changes nothing but getting advice and guidance will help to ease that stress and get you on the right path of where you need to be.

There are a couple of ways to stop you worrying about money. One is to change the way you think, and the other is to change the things that you do. Many people worry about things that will happen in the future, like savings eventually running out or not having enough income in retirement. This is natural and you do need to plan for these things but more importantly you need to focus on things in the here and now and what changes you can make to ensure that the future worries won’t become an issue.

So how can you change the things you do? Checking your investments, bank accounts and pension values daily, means you are thinking about money way too much and creating yourself unnecessary stress. Instead set specific time aside to do your banking and book regular reviews of your investments and pensions where you can get help and guidance at the same time. This will prevent you worrying the rest of the time as you know you have allocated time to deal with your finances.

Simplifying your finances can also be a great stress reliever. Having too many credit cards, savings and banking accounts just becomes time consuming keeping a check on them all. Review your pension funds and take advice when reviewing them, to help plan your retirement funding.

If you have investments and pension funds, get to understand the markets better. A basic knowledge can help to alleviate your worries and fears about investments going up and down in value. Historically investors have been rewarded for staying in the market throughout the ups and downs and getting advice on when to take money out of investments and pensions is so important, as too many people make emotive decisions rather than rational ones.
