A not-for-profit community centre, which has recently been licensed as a venue for weddings and civil partnership ceremonies, is hosting its first wedding showcase event.

Blackwood’s Libanus Lifestyle, which used to be a chapel, is inviting people to see what it has to offer on Sunday April 21, between 11am and 2pm.

The venue is available to hire for all celebrations – from wedding ceremonies to baby showers, children’s parties and anniversaries.

Libanus Lifestyle is the perfect venue for an affordable wedding

Karen James, from Libanus Lifestyle, said: “We are offering a venue to allow people to have affordable weddings and other celebrations.

“We have partnered with a wide range of local businesses who will be attending our event to show what they have to offer and we are keen to work with others.”

Caerphilly County Borough Council’s registrars will also be on hand to offer advice to any engaged couples.

People will also be able to see the centre’s beautiful wildlife garden – the perfect scene for celebratory pictures and a place which has won praise from TV’s Iolo Williams.

Based at the former Libanus Chapel in Blackwood, Libanus Lifestyle is a not-for-profit community interest company run by volunteers. Formed in November 2015, the organisation has since turned the old chapel, built in 1829, into a thriving hub of community activity.

All money made from the hiring of the venue will be ploughed back into the centre to help keeps its doors open.

There is no need to book for the event which is being held between 11am and 2pm at Libanus Road, Blackwood, NP12 1EQ on Sunday April 21.

Light refreshments will be available.
