A mother has been praised by her fellow Slimming World group members for her weight-loss efforts.

Nikki-Lee Atherton lost 3st 4lbs and was voted the Aber Valley Slimming World group’s Miss Slinky 2018 by fellow members.

The competition recognises members who have “transformed both inside and out” by becoming healthier, happier, slimmer and more confident.

Nikki, 34, was thrilled to win the title just before Christmas.

The newly-crowned Miss Slinky, who has dropped from a dress size 20 to a size ten, said: “I was already really looking forward to Christmas and feeling confident enough to wear outfits that I couldn’t or wouldn’t have the previous year, but winning the title of Miss Slinky meant I had even more to celebrate.

“Being voted for by other members of the group is really great because it’s thanks to them and their support – and our wonderful consultant, Cynthia – that I’ve stayed committed to losing weight. Joining a slimming group could be a nerve-wracking decision, yet I can honestly say it’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.”

Nikki began following Slimming World’s Food Optimising healthy eating plan, which encourages members to satisfy their appetite on healthy foods like pasta, rice, potatoes, lean meat, fish, fruit and veg and more. Slimmers are able to lose weight without ever going hungry and still enjoy treats without feeling deprived, so there’s no need to miss out on their festive favourites this Christmas.

Cynthia Yandle, who runs the Abertridwr and Senghenydd Slimming World group that Nikki attends, said she is extremely proud of Nikki.

She added: “I’ve no doubt that she inspires other people to lose weight too and show that whether you’ve got a little or a lot of weight to lose, slimming down can make a big difference to how you feel about yourself and really boost your confidence.

“Nikki is happier, healthier and fitter, and every week the group love hearing about her progress. Nikki has wowed everyone and is also a whizz in the kitchen now so it’s fab to find out what she’s been cooking up.

“Anyone who has been inspired by the Aber Valley Slimming World group’s Miss Slinky is welcome to join us at Beulah Church Abertridwr every Wednesday at 5pm and 7pm, or at our Thursday morning class at 9.30am. New members can simply pop along or if they’d like more information they can call me on 07901 710277 or contact me through our Facebook page Slimming World Aber Valley.”
