Caerphilly County Borough Council: Ystrad Mynach is open for business as usual during works

Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Engineering Team has identified an essential need to replace/repair the culvert beneath Penallta Road following a routine inspection. As a result of this, a small section of Penallta Road will remain closed for approximately ten weeks while the work is carried out.

Despite the works, Caerphilly County Borough Council would like to reassure visitors and residents that pedestrian access will be maintained to all commercial and residential properties for the duration of the works and Ystrad Mynach remains open for business as usual.

As a result of the works, some minor changes to local transport are
necessary:
• Routes 7 and C16 to Nelson and route C17 to Bargoed – temporary bus stop outside Ystrad Mynach Library.
• Central Café, Penallta Road bus stop – not in use.
• The Royal Oak bus stop for buses towards Bargoed/Nelson – not in use.
• Southbound routes will not be affected.

Any residents or businesses with an essential need for vehicle access (e.g. medical needs or deliveries) during this time are asked to email engineering@caerphilly.gov.uk or call 01443 866511 during normal working hours. For emergencies out of normal working hours please call 01495 235323.

Ystrad Mynach has a variety of independent retailers including coffee shops, florist, a butcher, hardware store, pet shop, jeweller and even a haberdasher, among many others and provides a friendly welcome to local residents and visitors to the town alike.
