Caerphilly Garden Centre will be holding a free family fun day to raise money for The Autism Directory charity.

The event starts at 10.30am on Sunday, April 28, and will feature loads of activities.

The Welsh Ghostbusters will be on-hand to show off their proton packs while Batman’s archenemy the Joker will also be causing chaos.

The event coincides with a special 50k charity run taking place around Caerphilly.

Caerphilly Garden Centre Manager Ryan Flowers will be taking part in the run together with Caerphilly Comic Con organiser Vik Yadh.

The entire run, around Caerphilly, will be live-streamed on the internet.

Vik explained: “The run and fun day are a part of my awareness raising for The Autism Directory charity and fundraising at the same time.

“It will also act as publicity for the Comic Con on June 15, and the superhero walk on May 12. The run is the first of my three fundraising challenges, with the comic con the final event.”

The garden centre will act as the official start and finish line for the run and also as the stage checkpoint.

The run will be split into three stages of roughly 11 miles each.

Organisers have said runners are welcome to join Ryan and Vik during the stages.

Full details can be found at Facebook.com/CaerphillyComicCon.

Vik added: “The run is free for anyone to join. Any weekend jogger, or anyone who runs for clubs or runs as part of their training, can join us during one of the three stages. Full details are online.

“They can run, walk a few yards or complete part of their daily routine with us.

“All we ask is for a small donation on our just giving page.

“It is totally voluntary. Anyone who does join us to run while on their daily weekend routine must be responsible for being suitably fit and healthy and takes part at their own risk.”

Funds raised from the three events will be match-funded by bank Santander and will help build a community allotment for The Autism Directory.

Funds will also be used for the allotment’s running costs and equipment.
