Ystrad Mynach’s Lauren Price has once again made history by becoming the first British Female Welterweight champion.

Olympic gold-medalist Price beat Kirstie Bavington in a unanimous points victory after ten rounds in Birmingham.

It was her fourth professional fight since signing a pro deal with BOXXER last year. She has now won all four of her pro bouts.

Price, 28, said: “I can’t really put it into words. After coming back from the Olympics I’ve got to say, that was a dream of mine. I’ve come into the pro game and started all over again,” she said.

“My fourth professional fight, first ten-rounder and I’m British champion. I can’t quite sum it up really but to add more history to my name is a complete honour.”
