Round three of the draw was made Wednesday night

The third round FAW Amateur Trophy draw has been made, with three Caerphilly-based sides featured.

All three borough sides have been given fairly generous draws having made it through to round three with wins on the weekend.

The most emphatic round two result went to Treowen Stars, who thumped local rivals Newbridge Town 10-0 to get their name into the hat.

They’ve been rewarded with a home tie against Cardiff Corinthians, who play in the equivalent Ardal South West league.

It’ll be a tough match no doubt for the Stars, but having only lost one league game this season, they’ll be feeling pretty confident.

Fellow Ardal South East side Abercarn United played a very difficult second round match against former Cymru South side Abertillery Bluebirds over the weekend, which they edged 3-2.

They’ve been handed an away tie against Penydarren BGC, who play in the South Wales Premier League alongside Caerphilly Athletic and Aber Valley.

It’s a match the visitors will be expecting to win, as they too have had a steady start to the season after eight games.

Finally, Risca United made it to the next round with a 3-1 win over Newport Corinthians on the weekend, but will face a real tester against Goytre AFC.

The match will be played at Risca’s home ground in Ystrad Mynach, but it’s still a game that could go either way against the ambitious Pontypool-based side.

All matches are due to be played on either Friday November 1 or Saturday November 2.
