Caerphilly 10k and 2k have both been sold out

Records are set to be broken this weekend as Caerphilly County Borough Council has confirmed both its 10k and 2k races have sold out.

The council is still encouraging people who aren’t racing to get down and show their support for those taking part in the two runs.

The 2k race is set to start at 9.15am on Sunday May 11, while the 10k will get underway at 10am.

The 10k race starts and finishes on Crescent Road, with the track leading runners in and around Caerphilly town centre, passing landmarks such as the castle and the Tommy Cooper statue along the way.

Last year, the men’s race was won by Swansea’s Dewi Griffiths, who clocked a time of 29 minutes and 13 seconds – beating his own course record in the process.

The women’s race was won by Blackwood’s Lauren Cooper, with a time of 36 minutes and 20 seconds.

More information about the route and other timetabling can be found on the council’s website.
