Harvey Rose and Jaydon Ford have been at Cardiff Devils since they were juniors

Two rising ice hockey stars from Caerphilly are set to return to the Cardiff Canucks next season, with a third player living in the borough also rejoining the side.

The Canucks, who are coached by former NHL pro Trevor Hendrikx, who also now lives in Caerphilly, have announced Harvey Rose, Jaydon Ford, and Viktor Langseth have resigned for the club.

At just 16 years of age, Ford earned himself supporters player of the year in the club’s debut season, where they made it through to the semi-finals.

On the re-signing of Ford, coach Hendrikx said: “Jaydon is a young player who has flourished in our program. His relentless work ethic and competitiveness is invaluable to our team.

“Jay is an integral part of the Canucks and we’re looking forward to seeing what he can do this season.”

Another rising star, Harvey Rose, has also committed to the club. At just 17, Rose’s defensive abilities have been praised by his coach, who added: “Harvey is another one of our exciting young prospects who really came into his own this year.

“His coachability is something that all coaches covet. His attitude has accelerated his development massively. Harv is a huge asset to our team and I’m excited to see him this year with a full season already under his belt.”

Ford and Rose were both just seven-years-old when they started playing ice hockey for Cardiff Junior Devils, and have since represented every age group through to the under-18s.

Finally, Swedish-born defender Viktor Langseth, who lives in Caerphilly, has also resigned for the club.

As the ‘assistant’ captain, Langseth’s experience and leadership will be “invaluable” for the younger players, with Hendrikx adding: “Viktor is a very smart player with a strong hockey IQ. His speed and puck moving skills fit perfectly into our uptempo style of play.

“Not only are we looking for good players, we’re looking for good people. Viktor gives us both and we couldn’t be happier to have him on board.”
