Bluebirds keeper Harry Irving won the golden glove award and was named in the team of the season

Trethomas Bluebirds have been recognised by the FAW at its National League Awards ceremony after a historic debut season in the Cymru South.

Four players and their former manager all featured in the end of season awards, with three named in the Cymru South combined team of the season.

It was a great first season in the second tier of Welsh football for Trethomas, who finished runners-up to eventual winners Llanelli Town.

In recognition for their success, the Bluebirds featured heavily at an FAW awards ceremony on the weekend, starting with former manager Mark Dunford, who was named Cymru South manager of the season.

Mark Dunford led the Bluebirds to second place

Dunford, who has since left the Bluebirds to become manager of Pontypridd United, said he was “honoured” to win the award, taking Trethomas above and beyond what most thought possible.

There was plenty of recognition for players too. Young player of the season went to now former Bluebirds winger Ethan Edwards, who finished the year with nine goals and nine assists.

Goalkeeper Harry Irving also landed the golden glove award, keeping 11 clean sheets across the season, Irving made some crucial stops and was a huge factor in Trethomas’ success last season.

As well as the golden glove, Irving featured in the FAW’s team of the season alongside fellow teammates Thomas Gameson and Gareth Tedstone.

Although not officially the captain, Gameson was a true leader on the pitch and often set the tone for the match. When absent, the Bluebirds had to look elsewhere for inspiration.

That inspiration would often come in the shape of Gareth Tedstone, the Bluebirds’ veteran striker who worked hard all season despite battling with injury.

Tedstone finished the season with 16 goals and was named as the frontman in the FAW’s combined XI.
