Cardiff eased passed a lacklustre Bedwas for a deserved win.

An Andy Humberstone penalty gave Bedwas an early lead before Cardiff asserted pressure on the Bedwas line and a scrum in the left hand corner saw the ball moved across the field for Loxton to score in the opposite corner. Thomas’s conversion went wide.

Cardiff turned the screw and further penalties from Thomas put his side 11 points to 3 ahead at the interval, Bedwas paying the price for indiscipline with hooker Elliot Dee sin binned for killing the ball.

The same pattern continued in the second half with Thomas adding a further penalty after 46 minutes. Luke Ford kicked a long range penalty for Cardiff before being on the end of a smart kick through to score a try under the sticks, Thomas converting.

Two further Humberstone penalties gave Bedwas a sniff of a comeback before Thomas added a further penalty after 73 minutes to put the game out of Bedwas’s reach. Bedwas tried to get something out of the game with Cardiff a man short after a sin binning but the Cardiff defence held out to take the plaudits.

Bedwas travel to the Gnoll, Neath next Saturday to take on the Welsh all blacks, who like Bedwas are bedding many new faces into their team. Kick-off is at 2.30pm.
