A Penpedairheol teenager’s first senior rally season is gaining momentum after his team finished second in its class at Caerwent Military Base in Newport.

Aaron Jones and co-driver Josh Jones finished 27th overall in a rally of attrition, where a third of competitors failed to finish.

Aaron Jones said: “This event finally saw us gain some luck which we used to grab a great result. The car performed perfectly all day meaning the only thing we had to do was put fuel in.

“We really couldn’t have expected such a great result and we are so proud to have made it happen.

“We look forward now to the next event over the Epynt Military ranges where we hope we can carry our momentum over to that rally.”

The team will compete in the next rally on July 25 to 26.
