A Llanbradach woman won a bronze medal at the Special Olympics in Los Angeles.
Ten-pin bowler Kay Paynter, 42, brought home a third place medal and two fourth place ribbons from the games that saw 7,000 athletes compete, representing 177 countries.
Ms Paynter, who has down Syndrome, was part of the 120 strong Great Britain team at the games.
The athlete, who plays for All Sorts bowling club in Nantgarw and works inPeacocks in Caerphilly town, witnessed the opening ceremony at LA’s Olympic Stadium, with James Brown entertaining the crowds.
