Penpedairheol teenager Aaron Jones came third in his class at the Harry Flatters Rally in the Brecon beacons on July 26.

The young driver and co-driver Josh Jones managed to deal with the wind and rain that prevented many of the 120 cars from getting halfway through the course.

Aaron Jones said: “Throughout the day we managed to build our confidence and become quicker and quicker taking places of other people and moving up the order.

“There were a few hairy moments along the way when a car in front dropped all its oil making it impossible to drive and getting the car to slide far too much for comfort.

“As ever there were hundreds of spectators braving the conditions to come out and cheer us on, helping us make it to the end.

“We managed to get the car around to get third championship points for the day, which was great to just finish in the conditions and against a stiff field of strong competitors all far more experienced than us.

“We look forward to the rest of the year and facing some new and exciting challenges. We would also like to say a big thanks to our sponsors at PowerMaxed for the continued support and helping us get to where we are with the championship.”
