Cross Keys RFC play their home games at Pandy Park

Cross Keys RFC have announced three pre-season fixtures to prepare for the upcoming season.

The Keys, who will be playing in the Specsavers Championship following their relegation from the Principality Premiership, will start their season with a visit to Cambrian Welfare on Saturday, August 10.

The following Saturday (August 17), Morgan Stoddart’s side will welcome Cwmbran to Pandy Park.

The Keys’ pre-season preparations will be wrapped up with a home friendly against Penallta on Thursday, August 22.

The kick-off times are yet to be confirmed.

The Keys will enter the new season with a new forwards coach after the depature of former Wales and Lions second row Ian Evans, who has joined the coaching staff at the Dragons.

Former Bristol, Exeter, Cardiff and London Welsh hooker Saul Nelson has taken over from Evans.

The Keys start life in Wales’ second tier with a trip to the Bridgefield to play Bedwas, who were also relegated from the Principality Premiership last season.

Meanwhile, Bargoed, who were also relegated from the top tier last season, will begin their pre-season by playing Llantrisant away from home on Saturday, August 10.

On Saturday, August 17, the Bulls will cross the Severn Bridge to take on Weston Super Mare.

Bargoed’s final pre-season friendly will be played on Saturday, August 24, with Premiership side Pontypridd.
