Strategy to boost Welsh language backed by senior councillors

Senior councillors have backed plans to increase the number of Welsh speakers and promote the language across Caerphilly County Borough.

Senior Caerphilly councillors have backed plans to spend more than £2.1 million on a “flagship” multi-purpose visitor centre at Parc Penallta.

It is part of a council strategy which aims to prevent and address homelessness through a rapid re-housing approach.

Schools have been collecting donations and fundraising to help Ukrainians fleeing the war.

Wales will remain under Alert Level Zero until March 28 – with measures being lifted after this if the situation continues to ease.

The maximum amount of council tax that can be charged on second homes is set to quadruple from next year, the Welsh Government has announced.

From September, the Childcare Offer, as it is known, will include parents in education and training – as well as parents on adoption leave.

Face masks are no longer legally required in a range of indoor places in Wales, such as cinemas, theatres, community centres, museums and gyms.

The funding will be used to help places like community groups, sports grounds and public organisations to access a defibrillator.

Over-75s, care home residents and anyone over the age of 12 who is immunosuppressed will be offered the vaccine.
