Support projects for young children and their families across Caerphilly County Borough will receive a split of £250,000 of Welsh Government money.
In total, around 70 Flying Start projects across Wales will share of £5.2m.
What is Flying Start?
Flying Start is a Welsh Government funded Programme and is available in targeted areas supporting all families to give 0-three-year-olds a Flying Start in life.
The scheme aims to provide intensive support services for children aged 0-three-years-old and their families. The focus of the programme is on promoting language, cognitive, social and emotional skills, physical development and the early identification of high needs.
We do this through the delivery of health support and guidance, parenting groups and support and quality, part-time childcare for 2-3 year olds.

The grant funding was announced by Welsh Government’s Deputy Minister for Health and Social Services, Julie Morgan, as part.
The projects benefitting from the funding in Caerphilly County Borough are:
- £50,000 to Cylch Meithrin Tedi Twt
- £45,000 to Hengoed Flying Start
- £45,000 to St James’ Integrated Children Centre
- £25,000 to Ty Coch Flying Start
- £50,000 to the Trinant Family Centre
- £20,000 to Philipstown Flying Start
- £15,000 to Parc y Felin Integrated Children Centre
Ms Morgan said: “This funding represents a significant, continued investment in the infrastructure of our flagship early years programme and will enable local authorities to create new facilities, make building improvements and to carry out essential repair work.
“The grant will also support Flying Start services to become more Covid-secure during 2021/22 by funding the necessary capital resources required to support social distancing, to create better access and to aid virtual communication with children and families.”
She added: “This additional funding brings our total capital investment in Flying Start to nearly £76m since 2006.”
Caerphilly’s Senedd Member Hefin David welcomed the funding.
He said: “Our Flying Start settings provide support for our most underprivileged families locally and across Wales.
It offers twelve-and-a-half hours of high quality fully funded childcare a week for two to three-year-olds; support for the development of children’s speech, language and communication; parenting support; and an enhanced health visitor service.
“These provisions are absolutely invaluable to vulnerable children and families within our communities.”
