Caerphilly-born Aaron Ramsey has praised the Wales team and supporters following their exit from the European Championships at the Last 16 stage.
Wales were beaten 4-0 by Denmark in Amsterdam on June 26.
Following the defeat, Juventus midfielder Ramsey, 30, took to Instagram to thank fans for their support.
He posted: “It has taken a few days to digest it all.
“I feel strongly that everything we did before was spot on but unfortunately we came up short on Saturday [June 26].
“It hurts a lot right now, but it will pass and we will be back soon in front of the red wall trying to get to the World Cup.”
Ramsey added: “Thank you for all the support and I just want to say how proud I am of all the boys and the staff over the last five weeks.
“What another great experience with a special bunch of people.
“What we have is unique”.
The former Arsenal and Cardiff City star ended the tweet with the hashtag #TogetherStronger – which is the motto of the Welsh football team.
Wales qualified for the Last 16 of the competition after finishing as runners up in Group A.
Rob Page’s side got the tournament underway with a 1-1 draw with Switzerland in Baku, Azerbaijan, before Ramsey scored the opening goal in a 2-0 win over Turkey at the same venue.
With a place in the Last 16 all but confirmed, Wales rounded off the group stage with a 1-0 defeat in Rome against an Italy team many have tipped as potential tournament winners.
Wales booked their place at Euro 2020 back in 2019, but the competition was delayed by a year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The focus will now turn towards the qualifying campaign for the next World Cup, being held next year in Qatar.
Wales’ qualifying group includes number one-ranked side Belgium, Czech Republic, Belarus and Estonia.
