Markham’s Gerwyn Price will be looking to make it back-to-back wins in the World Cup of Darts this year as he represents Wales alongside Llanelli’s Jonny Clayton.

World champion Price, and reigning Premier League Darts champion Clayton, won the 32-team competition for Wales last year – the first time Wales had ever won the tournament.

The duo beat Michael Smith and Rob Cross of England in the final, which was held in Salzburg, Austria, last November.

Price and Clayton will get their title defence underway against Finland, who will be represented by Marko Kantele and Veijo Viinikka.

The tournament will be held in Jena, Germany, and will begin on Thursday, September 9.

The final will be held on Sunday, September 12, with the competition winners receiving a split of £70,000.

The competition will be televised on Sky Sports.

World number one Price goes into the competition fresh off the back of his win at the Hungarian Darts Trophy on Sunday, September 5, which was the fourth European tour title win in his career.
