An alleged sex attack said to have taken place in a lane off a busy main road through Caerphilly town is no longer being investigated.

A Gwent Police spokesperson said: “Following a report of sexual assault which was said to have occurred on a lane off Pontygwindy Road in Caerphilly on the evening on Thursday August 26, 2021, officers have now concluded their enquiries and are no longer investigating.”

“Reports of this nature are taken extremely seriously by Gwent Police but, on this occasion, after undertaking a detailed investigation we will not be taking this enquiry any further.”

Caerphilly Observer understands it is likely the reported attack did not happen.
