A Cardiff man who attacked two women and threatened a third in Elliotstown, near New Tredegar, has been jailed for three-and-a-half years.

Sobur Miah, 25, was sentenced at Cardiff Crown Court on December 14, where he plead guilty to five offences.

The incidents happened on Friday, June 4.

Miah was previously charged with one count of assaulting a person and causing actual bodily harm, as well as counts of assault by beating and being involved in the supply of Class A and Class B drugs.

He was also charged with threatening a woman over the phone.

DC Matthew Pearce, of Gwent Police, said: “Sobur Miah attacked the two women following a dispute with them. He left one of the women with significant injuries which required hospital treatment for an eye injury, while the second woman received minor injuries during the attack.

“After this assault, he threatened another woman, over the phone, that he was going to attack her and her family with a hammer.

“This was a particularly frightening ordeal for everyone involved and I hope the victims and their families can take some comfort from the fact that Miah is serving a significant custodial sentence.

“After Miah was arrested by officers, he was also discovered to be involved in the supply of cannabis and cocaine.”
