Firefighters are tackling a blaze at a chip shop on Nantgarw Road, Caerphilly.

South Wales Fire and Rescue Service received reports of the fire, at Castle Fish Bar, at around 10.32am on Friday, February 25.

A fire service spokesperson said: “Crews from Caerphilly Station attended the scene and used specialist equipment such as thermal imaging cameras and hose reel jets to extinguish the fire.

Firefighters worked alongside emergency service colleagues to secure the area and a stop message was received at approximately 11:59am.”

Gwent Police said officers attended to help with traffic management.

The road was closed but has since reopened.

On its Facebook page, Castle Fish Bar posted: “Unfortunately we will not be open today due to an incident at the shop.

“All staff are safe. We will keep you posted.”
