Gwent Police is appealing for information

Five people have been taken to hospital following a two-car crash between Gelligaer and Nelson.

The incident happened on the B4254 at around 6.25pm on Thursday April 23.

Of the five people taken to hospital, three are believed to be in a serious condition, according to Gwent Police – whose officers attended the incident alongside the Welsh Ambulance Service, Wales Air Ambulance, and South Wales Fire and Rescue Service.

The crash involved a red BMW Sport Coupe and a beige Jeep Avenger Summit.

The red BMW was believed to be heading west towards Nelson, with the beige Jeep travelling in the opposite direction.

Police are appealing for anyone with CCTV, dashcam, or doorbell footage from the area, or anyone who may have seen either vehicle before the collision, to get in touch.

Anyone with information can contact Gwent Police on 101, through direct message on social media, or through its website, quoting log reference 2600125485.

Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
