Parents can get their child’s car seat checked on Friday June 17.

Caerphilly Council’s Trading Standards team will be at the Tesco Extra store in Risca between 9.30am and 4pm.

Experts will be on hand to offer help and advice on choosing and securing the correct equipment for both the child and the vehicle.

Cllr Rob Gough, cabinet member for public protection said: “This is an excellent opportunity to have your child’s car seat safety tested for free by our team of experts.

“Incorrectly fitted and faulty child car seats can potentially be very dangerous to use, therefore I would encourage as many people as possible to come along and get theirs checked out.”

At a similar event previously 68% of seats checked were found to be incorrect, with 23% having major faults.

A second free check session will be held on Friday August 5 at Asda in Caerphilly.

For more information contact Trading Standards on 01495 235 291.
