Man arrested after two lorries crash on industrial estate

A man has been arrested after a crash involving two lorries at Pen y Fan Industrial Estate, near Crumlin.

The 46-year-old was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and remains in police custody.

The crash happened on Parkway at around 12.30pm on Monday, July 4.

A 55-year-old man from Caerphilly was airlifted to the University Hospital Wales in Cardiff for treatment following the crash.

According to the Welsh Air Ambulance, he received “critical care treatment from our on-board consultants and critical care practitioners”.

He is currently in a stable condition.

Gwent Police confirmed officers attended the incident to help with traffic management.

South Wales Fire and Rescue Service sent fire crews from Abercarn, Aberbargoed and Ebbw Vale fire stations to the scene, with a stop message received just after 1.40pm.

The Welsh Ambulance Service also attended.
