Aneurin Bevan University Health Board has appointed a new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Nicola Prygodzicz started her role as the Gwent health board’s CEO on Monday, September 5.

On Twitter she wrote: “Today marks my first day as Chief Executive Officer for ABUHB, I can’t wait to get started. I look forward to meeting with our staff, communities and partners over the coming months in my new role.”

Christina Harrhy, Chief Executive of Caerphilly County Borough Council, responded to the tweet, and said: “Good luck Nicola. Looking forward to working with you.”

Ms Prygodzicz replaces Glyn Jones, who has been acting as Interim CEO following the departure of Judith Paget, now the CEO of NHS Wales.

In 2014, Ms Prygodzicz started at the health board – which covers Caerphilly County Borough, as well as Blaenau Gwent, Monmouthshire, Newport, and Torfaen – as an assistant finance director.

She then progressed and was appointed the role of Executive Director of Planning, Digital and IT in 2015, before taking on the role of Deputy Chief Executive.

The health board’s new CEO began her career in the NHS in 1991, as a finance management trainee, before going on to hold a number of senior finance roles across South Wales – including 16 years working for Cardiff and Vale University Health Board.
