Further pollution was reported in a small stretch of the Nant yr Aber river in Caerphilly last week, Natural Resources Wales (NRW) has confirmed.
The discolouration was reported on on Wednesday, October 19.
An NRW investigation into two other pollution incidents in the river within the last two months is currently ongoing.
Kirsty Lewis, senior environment officer for NRW said: “Last Wednesday, we received reports of discolouration impacting a small stretch of the river Nant yr Aber in Caerphilly.
“Our officers attended the site to carry out an investigation and took samples.
“We can confirm that no dead fish were found, and the pollution has now ceased.”
Previous pollution
On August 30, a section of the river turned white and murky, killing more than 100 fish – including trout, salmon, grayling and bullheads.
On September 16, around 800 metres of the river, near the Asda store in Caerphilly, was affected, with what was described by Morgan Jones ward councillor Shayne Cook as a “milky substance sitting on top of the water”.
Both incidents are unrelated, according to NRW.
The environmental body said: “Where pollution is identified, appropriate action will be taken.
“All pollution incidents are a matter of concern. If you see any further signs of pollution in the area or have any environmental concerns, you can report this to our incident hotline on 0300 065 3000, which is open 24 hours a day, or via the report it form on our website.”
