Chris Evans MP cut the ribbon to officially open the new post office

A new post office in Aberbargoed has been officially opened by the local MP three years after the previous one closed in the town.

The post office is inside a Nisa shop, located on 93 Commercial street, and means that postal services return to Aberbargoed for the first time since 2019 – after the last premises shut when the postmaster resigned.

The new post office has “restored service to the community” and was officially opened by the MP for Islwyn, Chris Evans who said: “It is great news that Aberbargoed Post Office has now re-opened at
this fantastic-looking new shop, which opened last month. The shop is already proving to be very popular with the community.

“Residents and businesses are delighted that the Post Office has now opened too and the daily opening from early until late make it very easy to visit. People can now buy their groceries, send mail, home shopping returns, pay bills and very importantly, as there are no banks in the area, they can do their banking on behalf of all the high street banks.”

The Post Office is open from Monday to Saturday 7am to 11pm and on Sundays from 8am to 11pm.
