Monthly History cafes are starting in Bargoed Library where people are encouraged to come and tell their stories.
People are invited to bring along memorabilia – or just themselves – and to share stories relating to a certain theme. The theme will change every month.
A spokesperson for Caerphilly County Borough Council explained more about what will happen at the cafes and said: “There will be a monthly theme with the first being… The 80’s!
“There will be a presentation, supporting resources and we invite the public to bring along their own memorabilia and share their stories.
“We will be recording sound bites for social media using the ESTYN ALLAN resources, signposting to our local and family history resources including our swish digital history system (a digital fiche/scanning system on par with the British Public Library).”
Janet Karn, a library team member, came up with the idea for the cafe.
The cafes will take place on the third Tuesday of each month. The first meeting will take place on February 21 at 11.30am.
Bargoed Library is located on Hanbury road.
