International Women’s Day to be marked with “afternoon of entertainment and celebration”

International Women’s Day will be marked with an “afternoon of entertainment and celebration” in Caerphilly town centre on Wednesday March 8.

The event is being organised by domestic abuse charity Threshold DAS, will include performances from singer Kaylee Equeall, the Rock Choir, Tir y Berth Primary School, Glee Club and more.

It is being held at the bandstand at Castle Court Shopping Centre between 12.30pm and 4pm.

What is International Women’s Day?

International Women’s Day (IWD) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. Significant activity is witnessed worldwide as groups come together to celebrate women’s achievements or rally for women’s equality.

The event will also be a chance to learn more about the work of Threshold DAS, which offers free courses on topics such as building confidence, understanding mental health and stress, customer service, environmental issues and more.
