The 58-year-old man left in a critical condition after being hit by a van on Friday night has now died, Gwent Police has confirmed.
The crash, which also claimed the life of a 67-year-old woman, happened on Nantgarw Road, Caerphilly, at around 7.50pm on March 17.
Police said their families are currently receiving support from specialist officers.
Michael Saltmarsh, 48, of Caerphilly, has appeared before Newport Magistrates’ Court charged with causing death by dangerous driving, causing serious injury by dangerous driving and drink driving.
He is due to appear next at Newport Crown Court on April 17.
Gwent Police is appealing for witnesses with any dashcam footage to come forward by calling 101 or messaging the force on social media quoting 2300086726.
