Leon Wells has been recalled to prison
Leon Wells has been recalled to prison

Police are appealing for the whereabouts of an Abertysswg man who is wanted back in prison.

Ex-soldier Leon Wells, 40, was released from prison on January 28, 2022. However, police say he has breached the conditions of his release and has now been recalled.

Wells was serving a 28-month sentence for breaching a serious crime prevention order, which he was handed back in November 2020.

It came after he failed to inform authorities of a secret mobile phone and Facebook account he was using. The phone was examined by police, who discovered he had been using it to contact people involved in organised crime.

He was also sentenced in April 2020 for four offences, including criminal damage and assault, after forcing his way into a woman’s home and assaulting her.

He previously served a three-year jail sentence in 2009 for manslaughter after punching Alan Brown in an unprovoked attack in Tredegar.

Gwent Police has urged anyone with information on Wells’ whereabouts to contact them on 101, or through direct message on Facebook or Twitter, quoting reference 2300170147.

Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.
