St David’s Church, Rhymney

St David’s Church is celebrating its 180th anniversary this summer.

The Church, which is located on High Street, Rhymney, will mark the event with all-day celebrations on July 15.

Entry is free for daytime activities, which start at 12pm, including food, stalls, games and a bouncy castle.

From 7pm there will be an evening concert with a performance from the Rhymney Silurian Male Choir and guests.

Tickets for the evening concert are £8 and refreshments are available.

St David’s Church was built between 1839 and 1843 for Andrew Buchan, the manager of the Rhymney Brewery – Buchan is buried in the church vaults.

The church is a neo-classical grade II listed building, according to British listed buildings, and was built by London architect Philip Hardwick.
