A road in Oakdale has been closed due to an electric cable in the road.

Markham Crescent was closed between Penmaen Avenue and Beech Grove at around 12.50pm on Wednesday June 7 following safety concerns.

A spokesperson for Gwent Police said: “Our officers have attended to assist with traffic management and to help keep road users safe. The National Grid and the local council are aware.”

The National Grid said: “We are aware of this power cut incident which was raised at 1:46pm this afternoon and our engineers are working to get the power returned as quickly as possible. We are sorry for any inconvenience this is causing you.”

The National Grid estimates power will be restored by 5pm.
