A free poetry booklet written by Aber Valley residents has been released.

Tatws Siôn Cent: Volume 1 is a poetry booklet made by the Aber Valley for the Aber Valley community and contains 14 poems in total – written in English, Welsh and even Spanish.

It’s named after Siôn Cent, a 14th century Welsh poet who lived in Abertridwr.

Legend has it that Siôn Cent tricked the devil into helping him harvest potatoes.

The first edition of the book was launched earlier this month at an event in the Aber Hotel.

Financial support for the booklet’s release was provided by Aber Valley Community Council.

Copies of the book are available for free at a number of locations across the Aber Valley.

As part of the project, videos of the poets and residents reading the poems have been made, and can be viewed on YouTube.

Work on the second volume of poetry is set to begin in the coming months. Anyone who would like to get involved can contact Tatws Siôn Cent through the group’s Facebook page.
