Caerphilly Senedd Member Hefin David speaking in the Senedd

Hefin David is the Labour Senedd Member for the Caerphilly constituency.

This week I welcomed Gold champion Lewis Evans to the Senedd, to celebrate his achievements at the 2023 World Transplant Games.

It was wonderful that Lewis had the opportunity to meet the First Minister and show us his four gold medals. He also set two new world records during his time in Perth.

I also recently took part in a debate in the Senedd, based on the recent publication of a piece of research I carried out for the Welsh Government, on the transition from education in to employment.

The report identifies the fragmented nature of the education sector and provides a list of recommendations which the Welsh Government can use to implement improvements.

You can read the report here: www.gov.wales/transitions-employment-report

I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Ty’n Y Wern Primary School in Trethomas on the achievement of their Gold Active Travel School Award.

The staff and learners have put a huge amount of effort towards building active travel into their behaviours and the award has only been achieved by two other schools in the whole of Wales. I look forward to celebrating with them on Friday at their gold themed day.

I will also be joining councillors Amanda McConnell and Chris Morgan for another surgery on Friday July 14 at Machen RFC, where I hope to see some of you there.

As always, please get in touch if you need me.

Hefin
