The family of a motorcyclist who died after a crash on the A468 earlier this month have paid tribute to a “wonderful son, dad, uncle and grandad”.

Darrel King, 60, from Caerphilly, died after a crash between between the Pwllypant and Bedwas Bridge roundabouts, which happened at around 5.50pm on Friday July 7.

The crash involved two motorcycles and a car.

Mr King’s family, who are being supported by specialist police officers, said he was “loved by everyone that knew him”.

Their tribute continued: “As a family we are all heartbroken at his sudden and tragic death and we will miss him every day.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank those that stopped at the scene to offer help and to all the emergency services for everything they tried to do for him.”

A 70-year-old man from the Caerphilly area was taken to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff following the incident. Police have said his condition is stable.

Anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage of the road between Pwllypant and Bedwas Bridge roundabouts, between 5.30pm and 6.30pm on the day of the crash, have been urged to contact Gwent Police.

Gwent Police can be contacted on 101, quoting log reference 2300225926, or through direct message on Facebook or Twitter.
