Ruperra Castle Preservation Trust is holding a guided walk around Ruperra Castle later this month.

The Grade II* listed venue, which is a scheduled monument near the small village of Draethen, was built in 1626.

A castle with a storied history, Ruperra was built by Sir Thomas Morgan. It would go on to be used as a base to train soldiers during World War II, but was severely damaged in a fire in 1941 and remains a ruin to this day.

The guided tour is being held between 11am and 5pm on Saturday September 23, giving visitors a chance to take in views of the castle, as well as build Lego castles, enjoy refreshments and re-enactments.

However, as the castle is privately-owned and in an unsafe condition, the walk will not include visits inside the castle.

Walking and cycling to the event is recommended by the trust, with Ruperra Home Farm accessible from the private drive next to Ruperra House, off the Michaelston y Fedw to Draethen road.

The walk around the castle is on rough and uneven ground, which could be muddy in poor weather.

To attend the walk, visit Evenbrite to buy tickets in advance.

Contact ruperracastlepreservationtrust@gmail.com with any questions about the walk.
