Lauren Price made it five wins out of five in her bout against Zambia’s Lolita Muzeya

Ystrad Mynach’s Lauren Price has maintained her unbeaten professional boxing record with a win over Zambia’s Lolita Muzeya.

Muzeya, a former world title challenger with only a single loss on her record, was by far the toughest test of Price’s five fight career, but one she overcame confidently on her seemingly inevitable path to challenging for world titles.

Price, the 2020 Olympic champion, made it five-out-of-five with a technical sixth-round knockout in Manchester on Saturday September 2.

The two fighters clashed heads, with Muzeya suffering a cut above her left eye. Despite efforts to stem the bleeding by her corner team, the fight was stopped. As four rounds had already been fought, the decision went to the referee’s scorecard with Price ahead 60-53.

Speaking after the bout, Price, who recently lost her brother Tony, said she wants a fight against England’s WBO light-middleweight champion Natasha Jonas.

She told Sky Sports: “It was good to get back in there. I want to be busy. It was my fifth professional fight against someone with an 18-1 record with ten knockouts. She headlined against Savannah Marshall two fights ago.

“Natasha Jonas, she’s got the belt. I respect her 100%, but I want to be chasing world titles. We’re both British and it’d be an honour to share the ring with her.”

The fight took place in Manchester’s AO Arena on the undercard for the Liam Smith v Chris Eubank Jr rematch – which Eubank won.

Price became the first ever British Female Welterweight champion back in May when she defeated Kirstie Bavington in a unanimous points victory.
