Gerwyn Price has followed up his double success in Germany

Markham’s Gerwyn Price clinched his sixth PDC title of the year – and third in less than a fortnight – after victory in Players Championship 21 on Tuesday September 5.

Price, 38, defeated German newcomer Daniel Klose 8-6 in a hard-fought win to follow up his recent back-to-back wins in Hildesheim, Germany.

The Iceman suffered early exits on Sunday and Monday, although he returned to winning ways in emphatic style at the Barnsley Metrodome.

Following the win over Klose, Price, who scooped the £12,000 prize in the process, said: “I played pretty well today.”

“I’m playing well even though sometimes I’m losing, but I was beating myself up in that final. I missed loads of doubles, but thankfully they didn’t cost me.

“I thought I didn’t play particularly well in Germany. I just did enough to win, but today I played a lot better.

“It is nice to be back in the winner’s circle and it’s a boost of confidence ready for the big TV events.”

Price saw off Cameron Menzies in the opening tie of the championship, before defeating Vincent van der Voort in the second round.

He then edged out Gian van Veen in a last-leg decider, which was followed by a 6-3 win against Neils Zonneveld.

At the quarter-final stage, Price recorded a big win over Danny Noppert, before reeling off five straight legs to beat Daryl Gurney in the semi-finals.
