Bargoed stormed to the top of the WRU National Championship East as club rugby returned over the weekend following a week’s break.

The Bulls smashed Glamorgan Wanderers 53-18 away from home on Saturday October 14 to record their fourth win in their opening five games.

Meanwhile, Cross Keys returned to winning ways with a 28-24 win over Beddau at Pandy Park, while seven-try Penallta stunned Bedwas – the Pitmen coming away from the Bridgefield with a resounding 55-19 victory.

Dropping down to League One East, Nelson earned a derby day victory, winning 30-24 away to local rivals Senghenydd.

Over in League Two East, Blackwood‘s fixture with Garndiffaith was postponed.

Meanwhile, Caerphilly saw off Treharris 21-10 away, moving up to third in the League Two East Central table.

Elsewhere, there was an Upper Rhymney Valley derby in League Three East, with Rhymney getting the better of Abertysswg Falcons in a 29-14 home win.

Abercarn remain top of the table after beating RTB Ebbw Vale 41-20, while Machen stay second with a 37-20 win at Nantyglo.

However, Fleur de Lys‘ game at Blaina was postponed.

Down in League Four East, Bedwellty recorded a 38-28 derby win away to Blackwood Stars, while Hafodyrynys fell to an 8-7 loss at home to Whiteheads in a low-scoring affair.

Unbeaten Crumlin‘s meeting with Newport Saracens, who are also unbeaten in the league this season, was postponed.

In League Five East, Pontllanfraith stay top of the table, despite not playing over the weekend. Hollybush, who are also in that division, didn’t play either.

It was a similar story in League Six East, where none of the borough sides (Deri, Trinant, and Cwmcarn United) were in action over the weekend.
