Man arrested and car seized after BB gun reports

A 19-year-old man has been arrested following reports of a BB or pellet gun being used in and around Caerphilly town centre over the last two days.

The man, from the Llanbradach area, was arrested on suspicion of assault and possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence. He is currently in custody being questioned.

A car has also been seized by police as part of an ongoing investigation, Gwent Police confirmed.

In a statement sent to Caerphilly Observer, Gwent Police said: “Officers have spoken to a number of people and have been undertaking enquiries in the area.

Caerphilly Council deputy leader Shayne Cook, who represents the Morgan Jones ward, said: “Residents across the Caerphilly basin were alarmed by these reports. I want to thank residents for looking out for one another and for contacting the police so they could make an arrest.”
